Results of using OptinMonster on Penguin Initiatives
Recently I began using OptinMonster on Penguin Initiatives to increase the amount of subscribers. I was absolutely shocked by how effective it turned out to be. I’ve tried other opt-in popup products before and they didn’t seem to make much of a difference at all. They also proved to be incredibly intrusive and just plain annoying, so I quickly gave up on them and moved on. OptinMonster appears to be a perfect blend of design, functionality and elegance that really does the trick. For this reason I’ve decided to share my results using OptinMonster thus far, along with a review of the product.

What is OptinMonster?
OptinMonster is a premium WordPress plugin that enables you to utilize several different approaches to acquire mailing list subscribers. It integrates with all the major email service providers and offers built-in A/B testing. Customization is simple through a very intuitive interface. OptinMonster allows you to target specific locations and/or categories on your WordPress site where you would like their Opt-in forms to appear. One of its most sophisticated features is Exit Intent, which triggers the Opt-in form to appear when users move their cursor outside your website’s window.
PROS

- Has sexy default template options
- Very quick & easy to setup
CONS
- Intrusive by its very nature
- Isn’t cheap
- Not able to stop showing opt-ins based on IP address
- Is so popular the default templates don’t appear unique to visitors
